Plaque Wording: In this spot Dr John Monsell, rector of St Nicolas & hymn writer fell and injured his arm which led to his death on 9th April 1875 during the building of this church.
This plaque was laid here by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Lord Hamilton of Dalzell to commemorate the extension to the church. 27th November 1977
